Prescribed Fire Councils Promote Use of Prescribed Fire and Host TREX
The core mission of prescribed fire councils is to promote the appropriate use of prescribed fire for enhancing public safety, managing resources and sustaining environmental quality. There are currently 33 prescribed fire councils located in 28 states, and the umbrella Coalition of Prescribed Fire Councils, which links the individual councils, to create one voice for prescribed burning. Prescribed fire councils have been key players in hosting Prescribed Fire TRaining EXchanges (TREX), which teach prescribed fire skills while conducting burns on…

Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge will be conducting a series of prescribed fires beginning February 26 through June 14, 2013

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge will be conducting a series of prescribed fires beginning February 26 and continuing through June 14. The Refuge is continuing a proactive land management approach by using fire as a management tool. The 2013 goal of treating approximately 6,500 acres will reduce the future possibility of wildfires while enhancing critical wildlife habitat and restoring native grassland processes. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and The Nature Conservancy Establish New National Agreement for More Controlled Burning

December 09, 2013 The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) and The Nature Conservancy (Conservancy) announce a new partnership that will for the first time increase and better coordinate controlled burn activities, also known as prescribed fire, on their respective lands to enhance wildlife values. Southern AZ Working Group Update
