Event: NE New Mexico Prescribed Burning Workshop and Information Meeting

The New Mexico Prescribed Fire Council will be holding a meeting for the benefit of anyone interested in using fire as a management tool on their private lands. Using prescribed fire on private lands is often difficult. Many landowners do not have the information, labor, equipment, and expertise necessary to conduct prescribed burns in a safe and effective manner. Experienced burners and folks knowledgeable on what it takes to set up and implement burns will talk about some of the following subjects:

  • State Laws and How They Pertain to RX Burning
  • Smoke Requirements
  • Basic Weather Issues Related to RX Burning              
  • Basic Burn Plan Requirements      
  • Liability Issues and Insurance Avenues
  • Funding Assistance- Opportunities
  • Tour Greg Moore’s ranch and see successful burns on his Private lands

Lunch to be provided by the Mora/Wagon Mound Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD), Tierra Y Montes Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) and Adelante Resource Conservation & Development Council. Please RSVP by July 10th so we can get a head count for lunch.
